Puppy Home Visits

Puppies require a lot of care, attention and patience delivered in a structured manner that adapts as their brain and body develops. This may seem a daunting task especially if you have other commitments, it is for this reason Paw Power Pet Care offers a helping hand in the form of visits especially aimed at puppies.

Puppy Care with Paw Power can be more than just a toilet break and play time. I can also include activites that familiarise your puppy with interations that will help prevent issues arising when they get older, such as:

  • Puppy handling - Includes getting your puppy used to having their pads, ears, face and mouth examined. Doing this prevents handling issues arising when they get older.

  • Getting used to a collar and lead walking - If your puppy is not yet vaccinated they could spend a few minutes per visit walking around your house or garden on a lead.

  • Exploring the outside world - Once your puppy is vaccinated they can start exploring the outside world. Part of the visit could then become a short walk. Generally walks start at about 5 minutes in length for very young puppies and steadily increase in length as your puppy gets older and their confidence grows.

This is also a great time to get them enrolled at puppy socialising classes.

  • Basic training - This includes house training, toilet training and basic commands for older puppies.

Example Structure of a Puppy Visit

Puppy visits are always tailored to suit you and your puppy's needs. Below is an example of how a visit for a 12 week old puppy (assuming fully vaccinated) could be structured.

  1. On arriving your puppy is let out of the crate or pen and is encouraged or is taken (depending on level of training) into your garden to go to the toilet.

  2. If there is any mess in the crate or pen it is cleaned up and bedding changed if avaliable or necessary. Water bowls are filled with fresh water.

  3. Your puppy is taken out for a short walk. They won't get very far due to stopping a lot as there is so much to explore and take in.

  4. Once back in the house your puppy has play time with their favourite toys

  5. Followed by any feeding they may require.

  6. Another trip into the garden for the toilet.

  7. Back into the crate or pen where your puppy will hopefully sleep for a few hours.
